Well – shit laws passed today on BOTH sides of the border. Obviously the overturning of Roe. v. Wade is of much greater significance. The U.S. system of checks and balances has clearly failed. I don’t know how a crucial law that has less than 20% approval passes in a democracy. Or WHY it was made a priority to overturn. The Orange stain on democracy will stink for many years. Sadly, I think this is just the starting point for the erosion of civil liberties that have been around for decades. Once again, religion is to blame. The ultra-conservatives that need to tell everyone else what to think and how to act, have themselves a foothold in the highest court of the land. It is repugnant. I can only imagine the turmoil and dissent that is going to unfold in the forthcoming years in the U.S.. It truly is a sad day for. the so-called, beacon of Democracy. Today it seems much more like it is marching toward fascism.

And Canada too passed an ugly law today. Of much less consequence than Roe but still a step toward unnecessary Federal oversight. Yes, I’m talking about Bill C-11. The Canadian government will now start recommending Canadian content within various social media platforms. The biggest being YouTube. I have yet to hear an argument from anyone where this isn’t just another concession to big tech (Rogers, Bell, Telus etc.) to do what they want. (*cough* *vom* Coz Gawd, knows the corporations have OUR best interests at heart!) Many vocal Canadian YouTubes were strongly against the bill. *smh*

The Avs have a chance to win the Cup tonight. It seems like another asterisk Cup. Sure the Avs have been dominant and ultimately I believe will win. However, that OT goal where there was CLEARLY too many men on the ice… in the Cup Finals where the series can go 2-2 or 3-1… that simply can’t happen. Or the minimum, it should be reviewable to get it right…
