Canada, politics, pondering

Show me the money!

Show me the money!

Iโ€™m a proud Canadianโ€ฆ and Iโ€™d like to see our nationโ€™s athletes compete and do well at the Olympics in Athens. It is embarrassing to read how little our athletes are given financially considering the dedication and sacrifices that they make to represent out country. Maybe the reason we fare so poorly in the summer Olympics is because our athletes are more worried about money than their sport. Currently 70% of Canadaโ€™s amateur athletes live below the poverty line.* Iโ€™m not saying they should make tons of coinโ€ฆ but they should be given a living allowance and compensation covering their expenses getting to, competing at, and returning from Athensโ€ฆ If you can spare a few bucksโ€ฆ why not support the dreams of Canadian athletesโ€ฆ There is a website for supporting Canadian athletes called seeyouinathens.comโ€ฆIt is amazing that this so called wealthy and powerful G8 nation needs a website to fund our own athletes. Hmmpt.
