We ventured up to Oro-Medonte for some cross country skiing at Horseshoe Valley. It was perfect day for it. Bright and sunny, not too cold and lots of snow. I didn't wear glove. Although I probably should have. I fell three times. Twice going uphill. How do you fall going uphill? I found a way... I was trying to do the Herringbone technique but ski would slip and straighten then I'd fall backwards and blammo. I'm not sure how else you'd get up a steep hill on skis? Other than that it was pretty enjoyable. My sister and JP joined us for the day. They were good company. We haven't seen them for awhile. After skiing we drove to Orillia for Chinese. (Since everyone was far too tired to cook... JP & B. also did an additional 7k) The restaurant was called Gung Ho and it isn't much to look at, but it was packed with people so the food had to be good, and it was. After stuffing ourselves with Chinese it was pretty late so we left for home after getting back to the animal farm (a.k.a. my sister's place). I don't recall being to Orillia before... I was surprised how much I liked it... it had a decent downtown, lots of nice older home, most of typical big box stores, lots of restaurants... I guess I thought it was a smaller town. *shrug* On the drive home I noticed a cross formation of stars in the sky. I googled it and discovered it was Cygnus the Swan (not Cygnus X-1). I don't know how I could live here for nearly 4 decades and never have noticed this constellation before? I guess it isn't visible deeper into Southern Ontario... It was a pretty cool sight to see. Anyway, I should be sleeping not blogging. Good night.
