View from the water
The weekend was a lot of fun. It did however, seem to be pretty low key compared to years past... Attending were myself, Pat, Dean, MikeMike, Andrew, Joeyicus and Kirk. The weekend involved a lot of drinking as usual. I bought a bottle of Sailor Jerry's Spiced Rum. I'm not sure what I was expecting... A cheaper spiced Rum bottled by someone I've never heard of before. It sounded like the makings for disappointment. The Rum was actually quite good! It was very strong but had a nice sippable flavour. The rest of the weekend was various beers. I was disappointed with Keith's Amber Ale. It was rather underwhelming. The main project Joe wanted to accomplish was the removal of an old shed in front of his deck. By the end of day one it was fairly smashed apart, by day two it was completely gutted. It was funny to think the original idea was to drag the entire shed to the firepit. Ha. I think we'll have to plan the meals out a little better next year. We all shopped independently in the grocery store so we ended up with nearly everyone buying burgers and buns. So day two we needed to eat eight burgers each in order to finish them all. :P The weather cooperated quite well for the weekend. It rained on the trip up and while we removed the boat to go home but not at the cottage. The mosquitoes were particularly bad this year driving us indoors a few times. We developed a new game we called horseball. Basically tossing horseshoes at a basketball net. Yes. You do stupid things after a few beers. The basketball net's mesh was eventually shredded. *smirk* To affirm how White we were we did play basketball correctly and tried to see how many consecutive baskets we could make. Well... it was pretty embarrassing. We were stuck on two for a long time then 3, 4 and Mike ultimately got 5. Pretty sad huh? I only managed 4 consecutive baskets. *shrug* We are trying to clear a field in the back of the property for hockey... but it is a huge undertaking as there are trees and stumps everywhere. It won't be a usable space anytime soon.
I got home mid afternoon on Sunday to find our new neighbours have moved in. After unpacking some of the weekend gear I noticed someone on our front lawn. I assumed it was just the neighbour moving some stuff around but then she came closer and closer to the house and further from their property. WTF I thought. Then I noticed what she was doing. She was ripping out plants from our garden. So, apparently the new neighbours have an old senile mother living with them. Great. This isn't a good area for someone without all the faculties to be wandering. Hopefully they can figure something out to keep her safe. We miss Ken already. (The old neighbour) The new one's already seem sloppy and loud compared to him. Sigh..... you can't pick your neighbours.
